We were thrilled to be able to provide another Happy Gameday to a group from Calvary Children’s Home! We were lucky enough to receive a donation of extra tickets to the UGA vs Georgia Tech football game and took 4 kids/staff to experience all that Athens has to offer!
Founded in 1966, Calvary Children’s Home is a home for children in the Metro Atlanta area that need to live apart from their families. They provide a safe, loving, Christian home for these children while providing them with a stable home life. Their goal is to give the children entrusted in their care the very best skills, education, and values so that they may become responsible, productive members of society. Visit them at calvarykids.org.
We had such a great time at the game with these amazing people! We started by buying everyone lunch in the stadium and then walked everyone to their seats. The young men who attended both play football for their High School, and this was their first college football game. They are from Louisiana, so have grown up LSU fans, but after experiencing the excitement and tradition of Sanford Stadium, they said they could ALMOST be a UGA fan! LOL. From the DAWG walk, to the solo trumpet player, to the music, to the band and most importantly to the players themselves, the whole atmosphere was electric! The chaperone who attended said that through it all, the expressions on their faces were priceless with a constant look of “What’s next?” The young men commented that the atmosphere was awesome, and they talked about the game the whole way home.
“Thank you for the amazing Saturday that you blessed our guys with…and me! We talked about certain plays and game decisions all the way home. It was truly an amazing weekend. Thank you for making it possible.”
